A Great Starting Place For Preparing To Sell A Business

From the first chapter, Mr. Shortill keeps us on the edge of our seats, plunging us into white-knuckled, hair-raising adventures. From a wintery flight in a tiny plane flying through a snow storm above the Manitoba prairies, to an escape from a small village near the Himalayan mountains in Pakistan, Shortill, skillfully weaves the stories around his teachings on business and strategic planning. Pointing out that a very tiny percentage of family businesses survive into the third generation, Shortill offers a pathway to follow for those business owners wanting to leave a legacy. It is an easy-to-follow, short, fun read. Not only is it instructional for people nearing retirement, but it serves as a directive to those who are just starting out in their careers as well.

Highly recommended for entrepreneurs

All business owners should have an exit plan and the author, David Shortill, provides lots of great advice through stories of real business owners. He give the reader insights on increasing the value of your business, a pretty important consideration if you want to sell in the next few years. In addition, he provides advise on handling employees, the most important asset of a business. The book is easy to read and the manner in which it is written with stories keeps it very interesting.

I liked the stories of business owners and their successes and troubles. It helped me to understand the concepts that the writer is teaching. There is a lot of information on key areas such as management of employees, partnerships and valuing your business. I liked it and would recommend it.
