They can even be fun now and again

From time to time along my professional arc, I've been introduced to more than a few books discussion new ideas, new approaches, a different paradigm for business strategies, new wave management, what have you. Since I am not in a management role, I've had the relative liberty of being able to read these more for understanding than for guidance. They can even be fun now and again, but they are generally weighty volumes, thick with references and even a touch repetitive in layout.
This book isn't another one of those. Strictly speaking, it isn't about business at all, except insofar as business requires human relationships and communication skills.
This is more of an FYI memo than a manifesto. It outlines a particular challenge and offers tools so that the reader can find a possible solution for themselves rather than presenting a given solution and then bending all paths to reach that goal. It is very easy to read, written with clear and accessible language, and contains a number of helpful anecdotes. There's a lot of good food for thought in this: if I tried to pull all the neat quotes and bits of wisdom to include them here, this would be very long indeed!
(I had the enjoyable experience of meeting the author when she taught a class at my workplace that touched on several of the themes in her book. I'm still processing some of the ideas she presented then, months before her book was finished.)
