Well Worth The Read

Angell and Lesperance lay out their task in the first few pages. "Our aim, as realists, is not to ring alarm bells or to preach doom and gloom, rather to lay out the bald facts, exactly as they are. We provide those with the will to control their own future the information they need to choose wisely, and to ensure that their financial destiny is in no one’s hands but their own." In fact, they provide the information to choose wisely, extremely well. Angell is professor emeritus at the LSE in London, Lesperance is an attorney in Canada working with international clients seeking more "user friendly" tax regimes. Together, they are the best placed authors on Amazon to understand the economic ins and outs of statehood and what needs to be done to preserve wealth. At the same time, they make the argument that nation states have, until now, believed that taxing the very rich is a step towards redistribution of wealth, a philosophy which, these authors argue, has any number of negative consequences. How the 1% matter subtitle should really be, how the world works today and why we are, essentially, up the creek without a paddle. Well worth the read.

The most sane, fresh, unbiased and logical view of the impact of both wealth creators, whether it be high net-worth 1% or the talented 0.01% and government taxation policies. The author also beautifully illustrates (with figures, facts & examples) how the policies of envy ("Tax the Rich") are both having the negative impact on the local economies and the ways out of this problem!
