Lovely planner

This planner looks beautifully and is full of tips on how to organize your day to achieve your goals. It helps you to control your budget and set up actionable plans. Most importantly though, it has a very optimistic feel to it, so that even if starting/working on your own business sometimes feels like too much, the optimistic vibe of this planner invites you to begin anyway. It doesn't get better than that!

I don’t give five stars often!

I have followed and admired Rania for some time now. I was introduced to her work when I came across her site: “The Way Women Work.” I came to know her invaluable contribution and support for women to fully develop their professional potential and, more importantly, her consideration for women as a factor of change by adding value to societies, even in places where we don't have access. In this book, I have found the perfect description of the reality of what the majority of women experience in their life, up until now, we have decided that the only ones who limit us, is ourselves.
This book is for all men and women who believe that the sum of individuals can achieve favorable change for thousands and thousands of people, regardless of gender, so that we stop seeing obstacles and start recognizing opportunities; to learn from failures and to not be afraid to succeed.

After reading this book, I am entirely convinced that THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO BE OURSELVES.

A book to motivate, enjoy and learn from

I am just launching my first startup and found "Undettered" especially relevant. I am a female in a (rich but developing country) with different types of challenges. The challenges are cultural, regulatory, market and financial.

"Undettered" may sound like a typically motivational book. To my delight it was much more.
This is how it works: a collection of real life stories and anecdotes recounted by successful (yet ordinary women) from various countries in different settings and circumstances. The structure offers three key action categories "Get ready", "Get set", "Go" where each category encompasses a set of ingredients for success. Each ingredient then brings the stories and examples by women who succeeded in starting up, or getting up (from failure) or rising up (differentiating) in her career. There is a story for everyone where the level of relevance is high. Creatively written.

I enjoyed and learned from it.

About the Author
Jen Mueller, America’s Expert Talker, pursued a career in sports broadcasting after repeated comments of “talks too much” from teachers and family members. Jen is a lifelong sports fan and a veteran sports broadcaster. A former high school athlete, Jen turned her attention to officiating in college. She made her mark first as an intramural flag-football official and earned All-American honors as one of the best officials in the United States. She transitioned to officiating tackle football and spent 10 years on the sidelines of high school games. Her officiating experience helped prepare her for her current role as the radio sideline reporter for the Seattle Seahawks. She is the proud owner of a Super Bowl ring for her work on the broadcast team. In addition to her NFL experience, Jen is a college sideline reporter for ROOT SPORTS and is part of the Mariners television broadcast team. In 2012, she was the first person to interview Felix Hernandez after he threw the first perfect game in Mariners franchise history. In addition to her on-air work, Jen is an Emmy-nominated producer for her work on Mariners All Access. Jen launched Talk Sporty to Me in 2009 after identifying a communication void that could be filled with sports conversations. She works with corporate clients on how to find value in being a sports fan in business. Her past clients include the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, T-Mobile, Coca-Cola, Community Bankers of Washington, and the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance. Jen is a talented and dynamic speaker with unique content and personal stories from inside professional locker rooms. She is also the author of Game Time: Learn to Talk Sports in 5 Minutes a Day for Business published in May of 2013. Jen graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2000 with degrees in broadcasting journalism and public policy. She currently lives in the Seattle area.

Master the Sports and Business Connection for Better Conversations

Jen Mueller has written an extremely helpful book for anyone wanting to communicate better at work through sports conversations. In my work helping sales professionals I have found sports topics are a great way to open doors and forward relationships.

For those who are not sports fans or not confident speaking about sports, Jen offers multiple conversation starters and strategies for success. I have given this book and her earlier one to a half dozen sales professionals - but it would be great for anyone in business.

Not just for dentists

I just finished this book. Now to be sure, I am not a dentist (book is geared towards dentists), but the information about how to capture and use client reviews can be used in ANY business. He takes you step by step about how to have a referral driven business. Thanks Ron for a great book.

Finally! The Definitive Book On Referral Marketing For Dental Practices

I've heard Ron Sheetz speak from the stage, about referral marketing on several occasions. When I heard he had finally put this information in book form, I bought one of the first copies. Wow! He covers (as I suspected he would) everything a dentist would need to know, to use referrals to increase their number of cases. He gives plenty of case studies to show how it's really done. He answers the questions a dentist would ask, when putting together a referral program.

Ron made this book very specific to the dental profession. But I've used several of Ron's idea on referral marketing to help build my consulting business. And I think these ideas could be used in any business where you provide a service to clients. At 156 pages, Ron has stripped away the non essentials, and immediately got to the meat of how to use the single most profitable marketing tool at your disposal..referrals and testimonials from happy clients/patients.

He generously gives you every key you need;
What it takes to create a great patient testimonial.
How to get the right kind of review and testimonial, that brings in the most new patients. (This is where most testimonials fail, I find)
The best ways to use these testimonials in your dental practice.
Using testimonials and referrals as a key part of a perpetual marketing system.

And I can tell you from experience, that the clients that come from referrals...give you the most referrals.

I've read several books on referral marketing, and I use what I learn. This one gives the best system for dentists, and could be used in other professional practices.

"The author team for this book has sought to mine this wealth of ideas and to assemble a collection of powerful, key models and theories into one volume. Together, they cover the main areas of management common to many organizations, and thus provide a foundation for a future career across diverse business sectors in a variety of job function areas. Each model is described and discussed in the context of the relevant thematic area it supports.

We have chosen 100 models that have strengths in how they conceptually explain or predict how organizations function, and/or are popularly used for guiding organizations toward implementing some form of change. Further, we have tried to connect and present these models in an integrated framework or logical whole, according to eight common areas or themes of business management, which also provides a perspective that can be applied to any model."

The team of authors analyzed business models from ancient Greece (Ethos, Pathos, Logos, Aristotle 350 B.C. in Model 69), to the Dupont Model of Frank Donaldson Brown in 1914 (Model 71), through more modern times with The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey in 1986 (Model 86).

Let's take a look at the contents of this comprehensive book about management models that mainly focuses on the last 150 years in the United States of America.

Organized Format

There is a preface, detailed table of contents, lengthy introduction, nine parts detailing 100 models along with a conclusion and generous index. Each listed model had a consistent presentation which greatly aids readability, flow and subsequent analysis:

Some readers may struggle with almost 600 pages in small type; however, a larger one would have added at least one hundred more pages or more to the paper version (which I reviewed instead of the digital copy).

Writing Style

The authors use a clear and concise communication style with fairly short paragraphs in most cases. They took into account that readers may be new business students, seasoned professional and/or CEOs. Each part of this book has a concluding "Reflections" section which reinforces key learning principles contained in the previously detailed models.

Graphical Illustrations

The authors' choice of David Lewis to provide his artistic talents was an excellent decision. His numerous graphical illustrations complement this book's learning themes and enhance a long presentation with a dose of entertainment in some cases and clarity in others.

Fons Trompenaars and Piet Hein Coebergh have produced a seminal resource on management models that likely will become the definitive body of work for this topic. This book will make a great addition to your business management library.

good stuff

Very nice and timeless book. Models could be 50 years old, but still valuable for the academically inclined manager. Probably also good for trainers. In contrast to many modern management booksm, a lot of content is included in this book. Most of the focus in the book is on OBHR models, but there are also a few models on strategic management included. Of course when the authors have decided to be timeless when including models, there is always the concern that the respective research field has progressed and come up with new improved models. Still I think many will find this book a very useful repository.

However, charging 40+ for the book is really rip-off style. The authors have taken existing models so writing the book is clearly not difficult. Charging so much is pathetic. I don't think this book will sell. It will cost $20 in a year. That is a more reasonable price.

Excellent reference for incorporating models into you decision making efforts

The book presented management models in a concise, easy to use format. Models are grouped into different areas of interest, so you can quickly narrow down which models may apply to a project or decision you are trying to make. I enjoyed comparing/contrasting the models and thought processes, and it helped me understand which was more applicable to my decisions around a particular situation. Illustrations are not always in chart, quadrant, or circular form however they all do an effective job of presenting the models. I recommend this book as a business reference as you apply logic and rationales to your decision making process.
