Anne is a Certified Financial Planner and award winning author who has held a multitude of licenses including securities, insurance and real estate. Her MBA was earned at DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois. Modern review of the fundamentals of money management and investing

I bought this book because it won a gold medal in the Independent Publisher Book Awards, ahead of Jonathan Clements’ book, which won the silver. It was money well spent.
While the focus of the book is financial advice for women, the lessons it lays out are applicable to any novice investor—and weren’t we all beginners at some point? The scope is broader than investing; it explains the basics of money management, saving, and debt avoidance. In some ways it reminds me of Andrew Tobias’ “The Only Investment Guide You’ll Ever Need,” only it is more basic. This is good for a neophyte.
I am an experienced investor, now retired and living off of tax-free income from Roth IRAs, and I learned (or relearned) a few basic lessons. I am also in the 24th year of a mutual fund investing project designed to teach my two daughters how to invest. If they could find the time to read this book, they would be able to brush up on fundamentals and to learn a new thing or two.

While the book is targeted as a financial guide for women, it's entirely applicable to both sexes. The first chapter on Secrets of Wealth Accumulation is a must read for anyone starting their financial journey, dispelling a lot of the myths around money and giving you a good base of understanding.
The book is truly everything you'll hear from a financial planner from budgeting, retirement planning, investing, insurance...check out the table of contents and you'll see what I mean. The author is completely honest with everything the book will and will not do to get you started on your financial journey. It's written in easily understood language and complex issues in financial planning are set up by talking about simpler ideas first. Typically boring parts of personal finance like insurance are set up with analogies and examples to make it easier to read and understand.

As a young professional managing my money is extremely difficult due to student loans and other bills. Finances are a topic that many young adults my age are not interested in discussing, simply because they are scared of the topic. What Anne did in her book, was make a scary topic, not so scary. She did an excellent job discussing easy and manageable ways to avoid going into debt and structuring your finances in a way that will benefit you. I thought the book was an easy enjoyable read.
