I've seen Tommy Gibbs' workshops for auto dealers in the past and always found them helpful. Likewise I've found his books on techniques for selling useful. This book goes a step further with insights that can help anyone be a more productive leader/manager, no matter what your business is. Well written, and obviously Mr. Gibbs has a lot of experience on the subjects he covers. Highly recommended.

As always Tommy presents an interestingly obvious way to do business. He hits it right on the head and tells us things that we think we know. We usually do, but are execution is weak and Tommy give us the intestinal fortitude to see reality and make decisions. Very Helpful

This book was very helpful. Many details for a newbie but still a few things unclear for the non-technical person. There was quite a bit of information about WordPress which confused me a little about what to do if I don't use WordPress. I kind of had to read between the lines there. I am a true novice so this isn't meant to be a negative comment. There is just so much information that it's all difficult to connect. I still give this book 5 starts becauseit has helped me more than anything else I have read. The author did a great job of explaining most everything. Some things were probably thought to be "obvious" but to a newbie they aren't. I have not yet seen the videos which may answer my other questions. I kind of liken this subject to one just placing their hands on a keyboard at the computer for the first time - with a completely black screen - what do I do first and how do I do it? I hate to admit that I need so much clarity that I can't understand the basic information. For instance, the WordPress issue - Unless I just overlooked it there should be some sort of indication of how to use this information with other web hosts, even if it's just that you can. Understand, I am a true NEWBIE and I realize it's possible what I'm saying doesn't even make sense. But, the main thing is that I still had questions when I finished the book. I am sure that is very normal. Having said all that - I like the author's writing style and the way it flowed. It made more sense to me than anything else I have read. I'm asking the author to write another book with more details for those of us who don't understand it all.Or, is that even possible?

Before you spend money on this book...read this

I hate to say it, but this book is pretty terrible. Whether you're brand new to Amazon or not, there's no excuse for a published book that you're paying this much for to have the amount of grammar and spelling mistakes. There's even about a half dozen places where an editor went in and put a strike-through to make a correction...and they published it that way.

It was definitely either written or edited by somebody who isn't a native English speaker, which makes it even harder to take seriously.

Anyway, looking past that, the content of the book was disappointing. Where are the 'secrets' and 'great tips' that were promised?

In all honestly, this book is just a jumbled up mess of rewritten guides for setting up your listings that Amazon gives you anyway. I'm disappointed because I was truly looking for some good info from this and read every page. Don't waste your time on it.

The author is successfully drinking his own champagne - a quick and enjoyable read about the do's and don'ts of self-marketing

This book is a crisp but entertaining reading about the do's and don'ts of self-marketing and self-branding.

Like Michael, I have a consultancy background, studied something completely different and I quit my job with a huge organization, as it was about leaving my own secure comfortzone.

Unlike Michael I haven't succeeded yet in building up my own business, but I'm for over 10 years interested in this field and most importantly I'm interested in the field of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), or more generally speaking, how can you catch and maintain a sustainable audience.   I sincerely believe that a lot of people are making a lot of money in the SEO area but it is mainly a rip-off for the enduser. SEO might help for some special keyword-tuning in case you are already successful, but content (and needless to say relevant content) is key to every success.

This book is not about making you rich within a few hours, but it will avoid you making typical mistakes, mainly wasting time and money in non-effective approaches.   I'm probably not the target audience with my background, but the latter enables me to judge that this reading will help the non-technical savvy to understand the needed concepts, one should concentrate on to make him-/ or herself and the company successful.

Please always bear in mind what the author wants to achieve for himself with this book. The fact how and when he released this book and how quickly it made it into the top-seller lists is clearly showing that the author is eating is own dog food, or shall I say he is drinking his own champagne? ;-).

Again, a quick read but full of justified information and I strongly believe an excellent advisor and kind of a roadmap for every small or mid-size business, interested in the global new possibilities but struggling with where to start and how to approach the topic.

In closure, please keep again in mind what the author wants to achieve for himself, and that's most likely exactly what you want to achieve. So don't expect a scientific technical book, but a smart advisor in how to do self-marketing right.

An Excellent Overview of What is Working in Professional Services Marketing Today

If you are looking for a resource to provide you with an overview of the most effective marketing tactics for your firm, this is a great book to start with.

The author provides a very practical guide packed with advice that you can implement immediately for your firm. Written in a very casual and easy-to-read language, it gets straight to the point and provides specific guidance in several key areas:

1. Digital and mobile marketing
2. Firm and personal positioning
3. Website usability, relevance, and content
4. Social media
5. Paid lead generation through Google and Facebook ads
6. Automation
7. Search engine optimization

One of my favorite sections is Chapter 7, where the author addresses what I feel is the most important question on the mind of everyone who operates a firm's marketing function: "How can we reduce the cost of operating digital marketing, and how can we reduce the level of manual involvement?"

This book is intentionally short so that the average reader can get through it in a few hours. Its structure focuses on providing an understanding of why things are important so that you can decide where to focus your firm's resources for maximum impact.

The only area that I wish was improved is the formatting of the text in the Kindle version. The lack of paragraph spacing, bullets, and subheadings makes the book pretty hard to read. The usefulness of the content does make up for this shortcoming to some degree.

Overall, this is an excellent overview of the most effective marketing tactics for the professional services firms. Highly recommended!

I learned so much from this book. There is a wealth of information here, but is easy to read and understand. I highly recommend it to anyone who is aware of the gains to be made when leveraging digital marketing, but need help to get started.

A must buy!

Simply put: wow. I suppose it's a bit of a cliche to say that this book "changed my life", but what I will say is that it made me reconsider my own CV and opened my eyes to a bunch of fascinating techniques.

The book opens with Susan Burke (who spends the whole thing writing in a friendly, informal style) explaining the ways in which people might suffer from so-called 'CV Shame', and begins to systematically talk you through the process of building a unique, interesting CV from the ground up. Each chapter introduces a different aspect of CV building, from your personal statement to writing style, along with some easy-to-miss, just-as-easy-to-avoid pitfalls that could trip you up at any stage.

Not only is the book enjoyable and easy to read, it is also supplemented by a '7-day CV Challenge' Facebook group, which you gain access to by owning the book. The community is enjoyable (everyone wants to improve, of course!) and the group is headed by Susan Burke herself, who is just as personable and friendly as her writing would suggest.

This isn't just a cookie-cutter template that produces a CV like the sort you see in bad careers talks or self-help books - I followed the advice from start to finish and my CV is filled with easy-to-read information. Highly recommended.

Awesome Guidebook for Investors on Avoiding Pitfalls

The Four Horsemen of the Investor’s Apocalypse by Robert J. Klosterman, CFP, is a book that all investors should read and learn from, as it deals with four of the deadliest hindrances to investors finding success in their efforts to preserve wealth and maintain growth over time. The book is rightly subtitled “The Four Evils That Will Crush Your Portfolio, and How to Fight Them,” because the four hindrances that Klosterman details have often caused the best laid plans of investors to go terribly astray.

What are these four horsemen? To put it simply, they are Inflation, Volatility, Groupthink, and Global Displacements and Transformations. Any one of them can prove to be disastrous to the portfolios of investors, and if any of them act in combination with each other, a potentially bad situation can get much worse.

The astute author of The Four Horsemen of the Investor’s Apocalypse goes into detail about how each of the four horsemen can derail what might seem, on the surface, to be reasonably sound investment strategies. The good news is that Klosterman offers suggestions about how to deal with and overcome the evil, deceptive, and threatening forces that could otherwise possibly lay waste to the landscape of what investors might perceive to be carefully tended gardens of future wealth and income.

In easy to understand, brief, to the point chapters, Klosterman relates anecdotes, provides spreadsheets and diagrams, and allows the readers of his helpful informative guidebook access to his four decades of knowledge and experience as a financial planner. The first chapter of The Four Horsemen of the Investor’s Apocalypse is called “Rules of Thumb and Other Urban Myths.” Right from the very beginning of Klosterman’s book, he gets into certain beliefs that many investors have, and explains why they should not always be believed. He writes that “most of us will take the easy way,” when given a choice; but, for people who have been investing for the long term over several years, wise investors have become aware that the supposed “easy” way or answer often “has hidden costs and consequences.”

Right away, Klosterman discusses the first of the four horsemen, Inflation, and how it sometimes relates to what many people consider to be a “Rule of Thumb” when investing — that is, the percentage that a person has invested in stocks should be 100 – the person’s Age = Percentage in Stocks. That might sound wise or sound, but, as Klosterman writes, this 100 -Age rule “ignores the impact of inflation over time.” Because of this, investors are left with no protection against the first of the four horsemen, Inflation.

The Four Horsemen of the Investor’s Apocalypse by Robert J. Klosterman is an invaluable resource guide to increasing investor awareness of each of the four horsemen most often responsible for waylaying the wealth investors already have. Instead, he goes into methods of defeating the horsemen and maintaining and growing the wealth of investors into even bigger nest eggs. Bob's book offers a pragmatic perspective of successfully investing for the future while protecting your portfolio from the ravages of "the 4 evils". He discusses the pro's and cons of embracing one of the popular financial strategies while highlighting the do's and don'ts of making the wrong choices. One of the best values of the book is that it empowers you to ask the "right" questions of your financial advisor, hopefully allowing you to sleep better at night even when the market suddenly goes down. The insight and practical experience that Bob offers in the book is reflective of the value he has delivered to clients like me for the past 20 years. Nice job, Bob. Worthwhile read for all!
