A great book for anyone wanting to look forward and crystallise ideas. It's easy to read lots of books without actually creating any actions. This book with its "lab canvases" encourages you to start applying your ideas at the end of chapters. By the end of the book you have a raft of well considered ideas and information in full context. Highly recommended.

About the Author

Andrew Hiles, Hon FBCI, EIoSCM, has traveled to 60+ countries during 35 years, consulting to major private and government organizations and training the next generation of Business Continuity (BC) practitioners.
A graduate of Manchester University, UK, Hiles is a founding director of Kingswell International Limited, a global consulting firm specializing in Risk, Crisis, and BC Management. He has worked with numerous blue chip organizations, including inter-governmental, governmental, defense, aerospace, hi-tech, banking, insurance, oil, gas, energy, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and retail sectors.
In 1997, Hiles was presented with the Western Press Award for services to business; in 1999 he was nominated for Lifetime Achievement at the first Business Continuity Institute (BCI) Awards ceremony in the UK.
As founding director and first fellow of BCI, Hiles is widely recognized as a pioneer in expanding and advancing BC as a global business discipline:

Pioneered international training in enterprise risk management, BC, and availability management in over 60 countries, providing courses in: North America, for the 330,000 members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; UK, for the Office of Government Commerce (the UK Cabinet's provider of advisory services to the public sector) and the Loss Prevention Council; North and South America; Russia; Eastern, Central, and Western Europe; China; the Indian sub-continent; Australasia and the Pacific Rim; the Middle East; and Africa.

Mark D. Cook is a professional trader. In 1986, he discovered the Cook Cumulative Tick (CCT), which helped him profit from the 1987 market crash and also rise to fame in 1992 when he won the U.S. Investment Championship with a 563 percent audited annual return. It was the highest percentage in all investment categories. In 1993, he followed up with a 322 percent audited return in the U.S. Investment Championship.

i have been to one of Cook's trading seminars at his business centre in central Ohio, he is a pretty cocky arrogant guy. In this long interview he repeats himself a lot and uses terms he doesn't bother to define. I have no idea what a heavy market is. I shouldn't have to guess. he predicts that if there is a 30% correction institutions will fail . peoples lives will be ruined and many will never recover, then he says he is not trying to scare anyone or create a panic or fear.
i agree a bear market is coming but it is hard to like this guy. The one really useful piece of information i got out of this was when he talked about how to recognise a bear market.
Iff the market corrects four percent or more and then doesn't bounce back at by least half of that correction then the bear market has begun.

Bunch of opinions, mainly on the surface. No actionable recommendations, not specific enough. Basically he says "I'm right, watch out, good luck, you'll need it." Not worth 50 cents, much less the "Kindle Price."

This is a really great book which aims to illustrate the advantages of having a passive income. It explains how to begin side projects and turn them into a steady stream of income. Good, Not Great

This book did not really have anything new. A large portion of the book was quotes from other books. This book seemed to mostly just summarize what others had already written. It was helpful but I found myself thinking I would get more by skipping this book and reading some of books quoted in this book.

I was constantly distracted by little errors in the text such as missing words and wrong words. Also, I found it a bit annoying that they didn't break it into chapters. That made it difficult to break up my reading on Kindle.

This book gets right to the point. Great job Eric in getting your point across without filling the book with a bunch off fluff or success stories. This book and other ones by Eric have helped me improve productivity and get focused. You may already know many of the things in this book, but how many of them do you have the discipline to take action on?

This book uses a doctoral, academic-based, research study to examine the relationship of compassion and servant leadership to 21st Century management styles. This investigation of the extent compassion plays a vital role in the servant leadership model. The study was developed to explore this research question: “What is the role and importance of compassion in servant leadership?”
The author used a qualitative research approach to analyze interview responses from 12 industry leaders regarding the concept of compassion and its role in servant leadership. Emergent themes suggested that compassion indeed plays a role in servant leadership through teaching by example, improving the well-being of others, and building positive relationships between companies and employees.
The author’s goal for this publication is to share this research that was the basis of his doctoral dissertation research and to reach out to the business community to find others with the same research interest. Further study can be conducted in standardization of compassion in the workplace, and explorations of how compassion as a behavior in servant leadership improves employee morale and possibly retention.
This publication is the first of two, the first being the baseline research study, and the second being the results of ‘what to do’ – how business leaders today can start becoming a compassionate leader in a business community, based on the concept of being a ‘compassionate leader’ or a ‘servant leader’ in industry and business.

NEW LEADERSHIP MENTALITY AS A COMPASSIONATE MANAGER

Dr. Brandon Foor has created and researched an amazing idea new to the business model – servant leadership – whereby the leader is a servant of the corporate employee in the business environment and who’s main task is to guide, serve, and assist the employees he or she manages in a way that creates a more encouraging, positive, and promotional mind set.

While working with Dr. Foor to get this book out to the market, I learned a new concept that, as many years I have been in business and working in the corporate world, I have not come across, so believe Dr. Foor has identified a new concept. This radical new direction of thought process for the corporate world is very important to the business culture today because it takes into consideration new mindsets and viewpoints about how managers (and corporate executives) should manage their subordinates, co-workers, and peers.

How I wish I had this book to drop on the desk of many managers I used to work for in the past, especially those who ‘didn’t get it’ when they followed the ‘good old boy, dictatorship’ type of management style; when a gentler, more passionate about helping the worker achieve greater goals mindset would have created more productivity in the workplace!

I was able to relate to the best boss I ever had - a servant leader

During a discussion about leadership skills, it was suggested that I read Dr. Foor's book THE ROLE OF COMPASSION IN SERVANT LEADERSHIP. Sluggish towards scholarly reads, I was impressed with Foor's lettered book. Most significantly, I was able to relate to the best boss I ever had - a servant leader. Until reading Foor, I did not fully understand my boss' style that resulted in a profitable company with zero employee turnovers. Foor is successful in explaining how the components and values of compassion, especially empathy play a key role in servant leadership. I will certainly recommend this to my peers and those who seek a career in management. As a long-time manager, I have always supported the methodology in this book, but it is great to see the study behind it.
